David Crowder*Band Plans Treasure Hunt for THE REMEDY

Looking ahead to the September 25 release of its fourth studio album, THE REMEDY, David Crowder*Band is sending fans on a mysterious treasure hunt for sneak preview details about the new set at seven summer music festivals around the country.

In an online post, the MSN 2006 Artist of the Year act writes, "summertime: sunshine, lemonade, music festivals, treasure hunts . . . we have left something for you, a gift. So, pay careful attention."

Remaining festivals participating in the "search for THE REMEDY" include Cornerstone (June 27; Bushnell, IL), Creation Northeast (June 28; Mt. Union, PA), Sonshine (July 12; Willmar, MN), Creation Northwest (July 28; George, WA), and Spirit West Coast (August 2; Monterey, CA). Click here for more clues about how to find the gift at these select festivals, and don't forget to say, "I have been sent by David Crowder*Band for one of the seven remedies."

Fans who won't be attending any of these festivals can still have fun elsewhere by entering the David Crowder look-a-like contest now happening at the CCM magazine Web site.

Switchfoot Gives "Almighty" Performance

Switchfoot recently headlined the sold-out "Rock the Boat" concert sponsored by new motion picture Evan Almighty and in support of Christian housing ministry Habitat for Humanity. The show also featured Relient K and Jeremy Camp and is now re-airing at HollywoodJesus.com (looking at pop culture from a spiritual point of view).

The popular site has also posted an interview with Switchfoot about its work and the Evan Almighty film starring Steve Carell (The Office) as a modern-day man called on by God to build an ark.

The Evan Almighty performance was an extension of Switchfoot's charitable work. The multi-platinum band recently held its third annual Bro-Am surf tournament to support worthwhile organizations in its hometown of San Diego. In a surprising twist, a last-minute oil spill closed the beach, so the surfing event switched to a friendly community game of dodge ball. Switchfoot bass player Tim Foreman talks about that day's events here.

Steven Curtis Chapman 07-08 Tour Adds Sanctus Real, Dillon

Coinciding with his new studio album, five-time GRAMMY Award winner Steven Curtis Chapman will headline a fall 2007/winter 2008 tour with very special guests Sanctus Real and Bethany Dillon. The 50-city adventure kicks off September 20 in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

"I'm so glad the Sanctus guys and Bethany accepted my invite to join me on this tour," Chapman said. "I love their music, songwriting, and their hearts for Jesus. I'm also humbled at the chance to again get out on the road and share the new music that God has given me. My passion in writing, recording and touring is to know God and make Him known, and that's what each night is going to be about. That's our prayer."

Sanctus Real is known for the #1 rock hits "I'm Not Alright" and "Don't Give Up" from its current album THE FACE OF LOVE. The band is also outspoken about African relief efforts and will sneak preview songs from its early 2008 release on the Chapman tour.

Bethany Dillon recently issued her third acoustic pop set, WAKING UP, at the age of 18 to excellent reviews. CCM magazine said the project "could be a career album for the still young Bethany Dillon . . . giving listeners 13 melodic reasons to fall in love with this songstress all over again."

As with the 2007 Winter Jam tour, Chapman's teenage sons, Will Franklin and Caleb, will join their father's live band on drums and guitar respectively.

"I'm not sure words can express how truly excited I am to have the chance to share the stage with my boys. It's a true career highlight and a dream come true for this proud Dad."

Chapman's sons also make a guest appearance on his new album, about which more details are soon forthcoming.

Giving just a little hint, Chapman says, "There's a modern edge to the music, what I hope is a fresh and compelling theme across the songs."

Before launching the fall tour, Steven and his family are returning to Asia this summer to do mission work in orphanages. The Chapmans have adopted three daughters from China and established the Shaohannah's Hope foundation to aid other families who need financial assistance in the adoption process. Steven Curtis Chapman Announces Extensive 2007-08 Tour

As he puts the finishing touches on his sweet sixteen studio album with Sparrow Records, GRAMMY© Award winning singer/songwriter Steven Curtis Chapman is announcing his fall 07 and winter 08 tour. The nationwide tour of 50+ dates will be featuring Sanctus Real and Bethany Dillon.

The yet to be named tour, which will be in support of Chapman’s upcoming fall release, will kick off on September 20th in Grand Rapids, MI and will close the year on November 16th in Nashville, TN. A spring leg will resume with the same stellar line-up. Special guest band members include Chapman’s sons Will Franklin (drums) and Caleb (guitar), who recently earned their keep and band roles with their dad during the recent Winter Jam tour. Although music and touring is becoming a family affair and balancing act for Chapman and sons, education will continue to be priority while on the road as it did this spring. In addition to playing for his dad, Will Franklin just recently filled in for Jeremy Camp’s band as well as continues to do session work when time allows. Meanwhile, Caleb Chapman continues to write songs and will likely make a step out guest vocal on his dad’s upcoming studio release.

Prior to heading out in the fall, Chapman will be crossing overseas to Asia. He will be doing extensive work with his family at the local orphanages as well as other Shaohannah’s Hope orphan related efforts. Chapman will also take time to play two events in the Philippines (June 29 and 30) and perform as a part of the amazing Hillsong Conference in Australia (July 4 and 5).

The fall tour follows Chapman co-headlining the popular Winter Jam Tour with Jeremy Camp as well as an international tour this past summer playing seven different countries that included sold-out dates in Australia, New Zealand, China, Philippines, Hong Kong, South Korea and Singapore as well as performances for U.S. troops based in South Korea. This historical performance was the first Christian concert for the troops based there. Chapman also co-headlined a Christmas tour with MercyMe in 2005 in support of his GRAMMY© nominated project All I Really Want For Christmas.

Gospel Music Channel Premiers Nichole Nordeman Worldwide

'Finally Free,' the new video single from Nichole Nordeman's March release, "Recollection: The Best Of Nichole Nordeman," will premier this Saturday on the Gospel Music Channel, currently seen in nearly 10 million homes. "We've been waiting for a new video from Nichole, says Jerry Williams, Director of Programming, Scheduling and Acquisitions, Gospel Music Channel. "Finally Free' was worth the wait. It's a great song from a favorite artist and the concept works spectacularly without being obvious. It's a treat to be able world premier 'Finally Free' on Gospel Music Channel."

Nordeman penned 'Finally Free' with countless stories in mind of women she's met at Women of Faith conferences across the country. "I've stood on the floor of the arena... looking 360 degrees... at 20,000 women. And, sometimes, I sit there and I look into these stands of women and think, 'what have you brought in the door with you... what kind of heavy chains have you drug in behind you that you are hoping to drop this weekend.' Writing this song was very emotional for me, because I was just sitting at my piano closing my eyes and picturing these heavy, heavy stories of the things in women's lives that imprison them - whether it's addiction or a devastating choice or a crippling depression. In addition to its touring, Sanctus Real is becoming known for its charitable work. Due to Sanctus Real's continued involvement in African Leadership’s Mocha Club, the band was recently a part of sending seven tons of relief supplies to Darfur, Sudan. EMI Christian Music Group Takes Home 13 Doves

EMI Christian Music Group took home 13 Dove Awards at the Gospel Music Association's annual award show last Wednesday. The evening started off with a bang with the show opening performance of "Lose My Soul" by TobyMac featuring Kirk Franklin and American Idol's Mandisa and a full gospel choir dancing and singing in the aisles.

Last year's leading Dove recipient, artist-worshipper Chris Tomlin, wasted no time in collecting another six Dove Awards to add to the five he took home at last year's show, among them repeat wins for Artist of the Year and Male Vocalist of Year. Before accepting the award for Artist of the Year, Tomlin lead the sold out Grand Ole Opry House crowd in his version of the John Newton hymn "Amazing Grace (My Chains are Gone)".

All-time leading Dove winner Steven Curtis Chapman, who also performed during the 38th Annual Dove Awards last Wednesday night, took home his 51st Dove statuette for his participation in the Instrumental Album of the Year winning End of the Spear Soundtrack. BEC Recordings artist KJ-52 took home two Doves, one for Rap/Hip Hop Recorded Song of the Year ("Never Look Away") and Rap/Hip Hop Album of the Year (Remixed).

Doves awarded in the Album Category went to seven EMI CMG artists for Rap/Hip Hop Album of the Year, Pop/Contemporary Album of the Year, Southern Gospel Album of the Year, Urban Album of the Year, Children's Music Album of the Year, Special Event Album of the Year and Praise & Worship Album of the Year.

Earlier in the week Tomlin received Songwriter of the Year honors plus two ASCAP top 25 Airplay Awards for "How Great Is Our God" and "Made To Worship" at ASCAP's awards dinner. During the same ceremony EMI CMG Publishing's president Eddie DeGarmo was honored along with the members of the band he co-founded with Dana Key, DeGarmo & Key, with a special ASCAP Vision Award for 30 years of pioneering Christian Rock. In all EMI CMG Publishing won 10 awards for contributions made by 12 different songwriters and the company was named ASCAP Christian Music Publisher of the Year. EMI CMG Publishing also had a good showing at the BMI Awards, with Steven Curtis Chapman and Mark Hall taking home Song of the Year for their song, "Voice of Truth." Mark Hall, whose publishing is administered by EMI CMG Publishing, was also honored with the Songwriter of the Year award.

EMI CMG artists, executives and friends celebrated the culmination of Gospel Music Week inside the sleek atmosphere of Hillsboro Village's hot spot Cabana Wednesday evening for ‘ONE Night'. The post-Dove Awards dinner was not only about celebrating and mingling, but in partnering with the ONE Campaign all invited parties were given the opportunity to sign the ONE Campaign Declaration to end extreme poverty and to learn more about the cause and how to lend their own voices to the ongoing fight.

EMI CMG Publishing has just been named the 2007 ASCAP Christian Music Publisher of the Year thanks in part to popular songs from top artists including Chris Tomlin, Sanctus Real, and David Crowder*Band.

Tomlin, who recently received his second consecutive Gospel Music Association Artist and Male Vocalist of the Year Dove Awards, won the ASCAP Christian Songwriter of the Year honor and was recognized for having two Top 25 Airplay Awards ("How Great Is Our God," "Made to Worship").

Sanctus Real ("I'm Not Alright," "The Face of Love") and David Crowder*Band ("Wholly Yours") also received Top 25 Airplay Awards as did Nichole Nordeman ("What If") and Matthew West ("Only Grace," "Broken & Beautiful").

In addition, ASCAP honored pioneering Christian rock group DeGarmo & Key with its Vision Award, and the ceremony was highlighted by the band's reunion of original members (including EMI CMG Publishing executive Eddie DeGarmo) and live performance of the classic hits "Boycott Hell" and "Rock Solid."

Jody McBrayer Departing Avalon Due to Health Issue

Jody McBrayer, a founding member of top Christian vocal group Avalon, has decided to leave the Dove and American Music Award-winning act at the end of 2007 having been recently diagnosed with a chronic but manageable form of heart disease.

McBrayer's condition, known as Hypertophic Cardiomyopathy, lessens the heart's ability to pump blood, making it more difficult to endure strong physical demands such as a recording artist's touring lifestyle. Jody explains more about his diagnosis here.

"The past 12 years have been such a tremendous blessing, and I am thankful for the opportunities I've been given as part of this amazing group," says McBrayer. "While the decision to leave Avalon saddens me, I feel that it is necessary in order to prolong my health both for myself and my family. I am so thankful for the love and support that my family has received from Janna, Greg and Melissa through this challenging time in our lives."

Janna Long, another Avalon founding member, says, "I am saddened to see Jody leave Avalon. He has walked this amazing road with me from the very beginning. And while we will all miss him tremendously as an outstanding vocalist and friend, I know it is in his best interest to step down and take care of himself. Even though he will not be performing with us, we all look forward to his friendship lasting a lifetime."

Avalon will continue to record and tour nationally, and McBrayer will sing on the group's upcoming album that is scheduled for release this September via Sparrow Records. The project will be a collection of classic Christian songs that have inspired Avalon personally and professionally. Selections will include Amy Grant's "El Shaddai," Steven Curtis Chapman's "For the Sake of the Call," the Sandi Patty/Wayne Watson hit "Another Time, Another Place," and First Call's "The Reason We Sing" among others.

HEROES Welcome for This Beautiful Republic

ForeFront Records band This Beautiful Republic released its debut album, EVEN HEROES NEED A PARACHUTE, to great media response this week. The buzzworthy Ohio-based rock act is also attached to an exciting new concert tour and online contest underway this month.

TheMusicAppraisal.net calls HEROES "a masterpiece . . . This Beautiful Republic stands poised to become one of the premier rock bands in music today."

MusicFaith.com says, "These guys will have my vote for New Artist of 2007" while On Course declares the album, "A must buy . . . I'm looking forward to more beautiful things from this band."

Coinciding with her first greatest hits album, RECOLLECTION, Nichole Nordeman was invited to write CCM magazine's April 2007 cover story. At newsstands now, the result is a compelling piece about image and authenticity featuring conversations with several other artists including Amy Grant and Chris Tomlin.

iTunes has put together new "Double Take" deals featuring Sanctus Real, Starfield, and Shawn McDonald. Fans can now download two entire studio albums from each act for just $14.99.

The Sanctus Real deal combines all 24 tracks from FIGHT THE TIDE and THE FACE OF LOVE, giving buyers the chance to grab #1 hits like "Everything About You" and "I'm Not Alright" in one swing.

The Shawn McDonald set includes all 27 cuts from the popular Seattle singer/songwriter's first two greatly acclaimed efforts, SIMPLY NOTHING and RIPEN.

Vicky Beeching’s PAINTING THE INVISIBLE In Stores April 3

Vicky Beeching, special guest on the current Delirious?/Rebecca St. James Worship Revolution Tour of the U.S., will release PAINTING THE INVISIBLE, her second set with Sparrow Records, on April 3.

PAINTING THE INVISIBLE was produced by Dove Award winner Ed Cash (Chris Tomlin) and Nathan Nockels (Passion) and is led by the radio single, "Join the Song," which Beeching actually composed on a piano that belonged to the late worship artist Keith Green.

Explaining the album's unique title, Vicky said, "Trying to describe the Eternal using earthly words is like trying to scoop up the whole ocean into the palm of your hand.
