Chapman Sponsored Adoption Foundation Hits Major Landmark
Shaohannah’s Hope Foundation, the adoption charity started in 2000 by the Steven Curtis Chapman family and supported by thousands of donors, recently distributed its landmark 1,000th grant to adopting parents in need of financial assistance.
In related news, November is National Adoption Awareness month, and Shaohannah’s Hope is partnering with the Focus on the Family (Dr. James Dobson) and Family Life Today (Dennis Rainey) ministries for a nationwide campaign called Voice of the Orphan. The initiative will provide a central outlet for people to learn more about how to get involved in caring for orphans everywhere. The United Nations reports there are 143 million orphans in the world today.
The Voice of the Orphan campaign will officially begin in mid-November with special broadcasts of the Focus on the Family and Family Life Today radio programs. Steven Curtis Chapman will be a guest on the November 13 edition of Focus on the Family and on the November 16 and 17 editions of Family Life Today along with his daughter Emily to discuss how adoption has blessed their family.
Also this holiday season, Shaohannah’s Hope will partner with a company that provides Santa Claus photo stations in more than 150 American shopping malls. Parents purchasing photos of their children with Santa will have the option to donate $1 to support adoption and learn more about this important cause.
Naturally, Chapman continues to use his platform as a musician to tell others about adoption. His 2005 holiday album, ALL I REALLY WANT FOR CHRISTMAS, centers thematically on the gift of family. The project received a GRAMMY nomination plus high acclaim from the Los Angeles Times, Chicago Sun-Times, and USA Today, and it’s sure to be a retail and radio favorite again this Christmastime.
