Steven Curtis Chapman

Kangaroo Struck by Concert Goer. Next stop Manila.

2 potential animal kingdom fatalities on this SE Asia tour so far. Unfortunately, we can't use that phrase, no animals we're harmed in the performance of this tour. Early blog mentions a bird inadvertantly becoming sucked into a plane's engine on take off.

Now, word from Australia that while driving to the Chapman concert, a Steven fan struck a kangaroo. Apparently, in Australia, this is as common as hitting a deer would be here in certain parts of the US. While I'm sorry that the kangaroo was injured or worse... and I hate that there was damage to the person's car... i must admit it is fun to write the word kangaroo in a blog. Kangaroo. See, come on that's cool isn' it?

These quotes about the tour from IM with SCC's sound tech Russ Garrett, "great crowds! it's a tiring trip for sure but nobody is complaining! i think we all feel very honored to be a part of this and think that God is going to use it in big ways. everyone has had great attitudes thus far, the only bad part is being in all these amazing places and not having a chance to see them...but that's how touring always is." And on their newest city Russ says... "if you thought drivers were crazy in LA or New York... they have nothing on Manila. They shouldn't even have lines on the roads because nobody pays any attention to them."

New photo on the front page on the site featuring Josh Robinson, drummer for SE Asia tour, Adam Nitti, bass player extraordinaire, SCC, and band leader and keys Scott Sheriff in front of the world famous Sydney Opera House. No kangaroos in this photo though, but see there how I was cleverly able to get kangaroo in the blog again. :)

one other note... The Mackanzie Fund link is now live at ShaohannahsHope.com. (scroll to the bottom)

Yes it's true! Hitting a kangaroo is as common as hitting a deer in parts of the US. And I must admit it was funny to read it in your blog. Pour kangaroo. :(

Yes, it's always a risk in most parts of Oz, unfortunately. We travelled almost 16 hrs to go to the concert in Brisbane, and luckily didn't hit any wildlife...although we almost hit an eagle that was enjoying a roadside lunch. ;-)

ROTFLOL! Jim! It's not our fault - it jumped out in front of us with no warning! The car is fine, and the roo jumped off - we couldn't find it. But it is fun to see the word kangaroo associated with Steven. I have photos from Melbourne up on the boards. :)

Thanks for letting us know about the Mackenzie Fund.

LOL to Carmel! Glad everyone survived!

Jim, somewhere in my vast archive of SCC files, I have a newsletter that Melissa sent out. This was back before the message boards, when the only correspondence we had with SCC was a newsletter that we got electronically a couple of times per year. I'm sure you remember. Anyway, she wrote to us about spotting a kangaroo running free in Nashville. I don't remember the details but I thought about that the minute I read your blog. lol I'm certain that the one she saw wandering around Nashville is the exact same one that pounced on Carmel's car. Yeh. Cause Kangaroos can totally do that. AND, I think the Kangaroo is stalking Steven. She probably doesn't mean any harm, you know. She just wants to put him in her pouch.

David, more hugs and prayers sent out to you. I've only met you a few times here and there, but I've seen you interact with Shaoey and other kids and have seen what a tender heart you have...and I can't imagine how hard this is for you. I'm so sorry.

That is quite true! But some people do follow traffic rules around here, or try very hard. Haha I got the chance to drive around Manila with SCC and the band, and it was so funny seeing their reactions to the traffic and the way people drove! I hope they noticed that they had pretty good drivers though. Haha I gotta say, they were very shocked, but they loved our Jeepneys though.
