Steven Curtis Chapman

Why (Jim thinks) Blog Content Is So Hard To Come Up With

Have you ever had a season in your job, serving somewhere in your community, or even at home... where you've been so busy ACCOMPLISHING things, that you haven't had time to TELL anybody what you've accomplished. And so at times no one knows all you've accomplished. This is perpetually Steven's life and ministry. And as I read that paragraph back to myself, I can hear him adjusting what I've just said gently adding the phrase... yes, well, actually... haven't had time to tell anyone what God has accomplished by His grace through my efforts. : )

I think another factor here is that, it's hard for those of us who work in this industry/ministry day in and day out to realize that someone would be interested in what we're doing day in and day out. It's just what we do.

Particularly when SCC is on the road, this task of updating is even worse. In part, that's what this website, and the StevenCurtisChapman.com e-mail newsletter, and this blog is all about. We try to keep you up to date, but it's a struggle. But even this blog hasn't been able to keep up with Steven and the band on the SE Asia tour. Because the guys are working so hard to get the shows up and happening, and they are concerned that the audience be prayed for, that the performance be excellent, that they are advancing ahead for the shows coming up the next day and the day after, that they get through the airport in time to make flights, that they have gear working, that they don’t lose gear, that they fix things that get broken, that they have time with people there at the concert helping, that they can give it all on stage, that they complete interviews, they still connect with their families as best as possible while gone, and that’s just the top few... these things all take priority over say... Calling or e-mailing the management company : ) We are doing are best to give you a few bits of info from the road though.

I hope this blog is serving you well. It's still taking shape, so I welcome your questions, suggestions, encouragements, and comments. It's just me after all. :) But according to the statistics, while the audience for this blog has been small... but growing quickly. For now I'll keep going if it's alright with you.

G'day Jim,
I've been watching this blog on and off since it started (probably more off than on, sorry), but after seeing SCC last Thursday in Brisbane, Australia, it made me realise just how much SCC does, and how much support he has behind him.
I reckon you're doing a great job and I get a real 'behind the scenes' feel of what goes into SCC's tour etc. My wife and I are all fired up for the Kingdom after seeing him in concert.
Keep up the good work, mate! God bless you and SCC's support group, and SCC and his family.

I think you are doing an excellent job. I find the blog most entertaining, and more importantly, like Carmel said, you are helping to give us some prayer direction. I take that part very seriously.

Interest in what you do: I have said for a few years now that I think you all really underestimate how much the seemingly mundane news interests the fans. lol I think you guys feel pressured to come up with blockbuster info, when in fact, we very much enjoy hearing the seemingly mundane things. I think you're putting too much pressure on yourself! You're doing a great job. Thank you for making the time to do it. You are appreciated.

ABSOLUTELY!!!! It is definitely alright with me if you keep going! What a task you have set before you to keep us "in the know" of what SCC's life is like on the other side of the stage curtain. I appreciate you and what you're doing for all us fans out here! May God continue to bless you in all that you do!

Jim,

While this is my first experience with blogging, I think you are doing an awesome job. I have been a fan of SCC for many years now and love having access to the "inside life of the Chapmans." Thank you so much for taking the time and extra energy I am sure it takes to keep us fans informed and included.

Heya, Jim!

Loving this blog! Okay, maybe you're insane for taking on ANOTHER task, but you're doing an unbelievable job!

I've read them all and looking forward to the next--I mean, what else do you have to do??
