Steven Curtis Chapman

Marathon Rehearsals

The hot summer sun has been shinning for much of he last ten days in Franklin, TN. But Steven Chapman doesn’t have a clue.

For the past week and a half, Chapman, his band leader Scott Sheriff, and 4 very young, very talented musicians have been sequestered in day long, marathon rehearsals. A building on the Chapman property known as the Barnasium, (part storage barn, part basketball court, part rehearsal facility, part test track for battery operated cars driven by little Chinese Chapman girls), has been home to the run throughs by Steven and his band for his appearance at Estes Park, Colorado next week.

The new configuration of Steven’s band includes familiar faces though, they look a lot like Steven’s. Will Franklin and Caleb Chapman are part of the musical force backing Dad, and along with close friends DJ and Dale Lipscomb, they make up a band (currently) called, The Following. The Following will appear with Steven at Estes, and don’t expect to be able to tell any difference between them and Steven’s usual band configuration while they’re playing “The Great Adventure,” the rehearsals have paid off. The prolific Jonny Lang stopped by on Wednesday and gave his seal of approval, their perfectionist boss SCC is satisfied, and they were solid for me when I stopped by today. The Following has an EP in the works and if you’re at Estes, you may even get to hear an original from The Following too. (myspace.com/thefollowing)

A great adventure indeed.

Yay!

I read this in DJ's blog on myspace and I couldn't be more excited for The Following!

We just saw Steven in Arlington (Six Flags) and Caleb was busy getting guitars ready for his dad. I thought that MAYBE he and Will might get a little stage time, but they didn't. It's awesome they'll be jamming with their Dad in Estes Park!

Thanks for the update. Oh, and we now get the Gospel Music Channel!!! Yaaaaaaaay! I was on here the other day and heard my husband say, "Oh my gosh!!" I didn't know what had happened, but before I could ask, he yelled, "WE GET THE GOSPEL MUSIC CHANNEL!!" We were like kids in a candy store, programming stuff in the TiVo, lol.

Have a great weekend!

Hey,

This is my first post.  I love Steven's music, but his heart for Christ and ministry to orphans is why I am writing.  I know he is coming to Orlando in December for Night of Joy.  I just wanted him to know that our church, located in Ormond Beach, Florida where his mom used to attend is about to launch an orphan's ministry.  If there is anyway possible, we would love for him to visit our church and help us promote this ministry in the Spring of 07.  How would I go about contacting him for an appearance?  God bless you Steven and your ministry.

In Christ,

Pepper Wooten
