    New Album News

Well, after digging and digging and digging - I finally have found some leads that a new album is in the works, and therefore - we must begin a thread like this. Hopefully, we'll be able to entice Brian and Dustin to give us a little more of an "inside scoop" as to what all is going on, and maybe some sneak previews!

     Here's video clip #1:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ymwut_GsoUQ

Chris's Commentary (as if you cared...):

First off, it's way cool to see what the new offices look like from the inside. I always wondered where they were, and what all was inside - so thanks for the tour.

1:56 - although all you can hear is Dustin and Kendal (and Charlie very faintly), this sounds like it could turn into a pretty nice groove.

6:12 - nice stuff going on here with Kendall's sliding guitar over Dustin's phat beats (oh yes, I said phat). I'll really look forward to see what this turns into. Question - is this the same song as the clip at 4:35? I'll guess that it is.

    Re: New Album News

Oh yes, it IS true...we've been in the studio this week putting together a demo of 15 new songs (not including Walk The World or You Are God). Actually, 2 of them are old songs that we love deeply, but I'm not telling which ones they are....(but if you have seen us recently, chances are you've seen us play them both...especially at Thirsty, hint hint Ants). I'm out of town due to no electricity at home, so I stood out in front of a coffee shop that was closed last night in my parent's town in the middle of nowhere to download the new songs so I could hear them...that's how excited I am about them.

For those of you that have been around our world for a long time, note that there are 17 songs at this point...a little eery reminder of our unloved demo from a few years ago (before On The Road To Beautiful). Let's have a moment of silence for the "17 Songs That Will Never See The Light Of Day".

We've got a wide range of songs, a little bit of rock, a little bit of vibe, a little bit of crazy, and a little bit of home run (at least that's what I think....then again, I'm biased. Time will tell.)

    Re: New Album News

Sorry it's taken so long to get this post up - I'm sitting in the Ft. Lauderdale airport on my way home from a cruise! It's been so nice to escape the ice and snow of Oklahoma!

I'll go ahead and start the "spoiler list". Songs so far...

    1. Walk The World

    2. You Are God

    3. Everything's Alright? (I do like this song, but not as much as...)

    4. Waiting? (I really really hope so...)

    5. Bloom Again? (Seeing as this has been on the setlist a lot lately, I'll guess YES)

    6. Sweep Me Away? (Could it be that the CHB will rerecord this one? I doubt it...we'll see...)

We'll see how this list evolves...but we'll need a little more help from you guys (Brian....Dustin seems to have fallen off the face of these boards).

Now then, the latest video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1PBMGmte0bU

Keep the videos rolling guys. I'm really enjoying hearing the new material come across! If you ever wanted to send me a spoiler advanced copy of the demo - you're more than welcome to!

    Cheers, and Merry Christmas

    Re: New Album News

wow. 17? that's a lot of demos. I definitely heard a different little bird mention ONE of those songs on your list, chris. so you're on some sort of right track i guess. haha. I'm excited to hear the new stuff, though. that last album really owned.

    Re: New Album News

Dustin HAS fallen off of the boards recently...most likely because he's getting married in January and in the midst of last minute preparations, but I assure you he'll return and we'll both tantalize you all with little teases and hints, all as an incentive to get this board moving.

    Re: New Album News

and as the first little teaser, at this point there are 2 old songs that should be re-surfacing and done up right....there are 12 brand new songs so far that haven't been heard by anyone anywhere (except our wives when they came to the studio for the Christmas party)....there is 1 new song that we've been playing live fairly regularly (besides the songs that everyone heard at Passion) that defies naming...and a few likely suspects that most everyone will easily guess. How do you like THEM apples?

    Re: New Album News

I am rapidly approaching my 1st Anniversary, so I completely understand with Dustin's lack of time to do anything. Send him my regards and best wishes on the upcoming wedding.

I agree with Blake, too. The last album owned, so we're all very excited to see what becomes of this new demo.

Ok, so I guess my list will have to dwindle down to three definates, those being Walk The World, Bloom Again & You Are God. As for the new song that you've been playing regularly (besides the Passion tunes), I'll have to do some more homework. I am anxiously awaiting the next teaser video to post on YouTube!

I guess New Years Eve is coming up...so side track...what's everyone doing? I'll be down at the Flaming Lips/Starlight Mints show at the Cox Center. It is supposed to be a big show, so we'll see what's in store...

    Re: New Album News

I am certainly jealous of you. I got to see the Lips in Tulsa this summer at Dfest, and it was very entertaining. I just had some friends over, and we hung out, played games, ate junk food, etc.

It's been a while since we've heard anything - any updates Brian?

    Re: New Album News

This is kind of the "calm before the storm" so to speak. We'll be going into the studio this spring to record what looks like will be 14 songs. All 14 won't make it on the final CD, but all 14 are destined to see the light of day...don't worry. Our motto is "no song left behind". ;)

Our label has heard the demo and is every bit as excited about the songs as we are (which is a huge encouragement for us). There are some moody/contemplative songs (would you expect anything less?), some folk-y songs, and even some pretty rawkin' songs. Heck, there's a guitar solo on one of the demo tracks that would make Skynard proud Zip it! That's all I have to say about that one. There are some old songs, some new songs NO borrowed songs, and I guess you could refer to some of them as a little blue...and I think I can safely speak for all of us when I say we can't wait for you to hear them all.

    Re: New Album News

yep i am back, sorry for falling off the face. i did et those vids done though-so snap.

as for new recording, i too am really excited, having been gone for a couple of weeks i am ready to get back into the sheer act of playing. my muscles and mind misses it-though i have had a great two weeks with the wedding and beginning my life with the wife-who is amazing let me say!

we have had some great response, in both a people enthusiasm and spiritual movement sense with a few of the new songs already, and we have hardly been playing it seems. the next month or so will be excellent in seeing how this goes, before any recording happens.

while in the waiting, the new passion record comes out feb. 5th, with some long awaited  tunes from us that preemptively will come out in live form before a studio version-one of the weird quirks of "worship music" that i don't know how i feel about/ new thread maybe?

anyways, live or not, it is an exciting record for Passion leading into a few more regionals, then the world dates, and once again, i am honored to be around those folks, the other musicians, and every tech and organizer, who, i say it honestly, are great, honest, legit folks.

so. let's keep the rock alive. Dustin.

    Re: New Album News

Dustin - congrats on getting married!  It's awesome spending your life with your best friend.  Interestingly, the drummer on our worship team got married a year ago, and people have noticed that his drumming has gotten more energetic and powerful - hey, you never know!

Anyway, God bless you as you enter this next stage in your life
