I actually must add a coffee house from Ada, Ok to the list. I had no idea that any even existed out there, let alone a good one. Boy were we ALL impressed! It's called Perfect Blend and if I remember right it's on Main St in Ada. Mucho props to Jesse Coffee, our "bistro".  ;)  A little lean on atmosphere, but of course we were there when it was closed and empty. I can only imagine what it's like with a full house....but even with an empty place, the coffee more than made up for any sort of shortcomings.  Try the house special....Paul our sound guy gives it 2 thumbs up.

Just out of curiosity, what's everyone drinking here?

I had a fantastic cup of coffee last night at the Cheesecake Factory - I was actually quite shocked at how good it was. It went perfectly with their coffee cheesecake. Drank it black, which I never do - I'm usually a Caffe Mocha w/ a shot of expresso kind of a guy.

Re: Fantastic Coffee Houses Of The World

My coffee really depends on what time of the day it is, and if I've had anything to eat. Coffee on an empty stomach really wires me to a seriously unhealthy degree....but here's my general choices and why (too much information probably, but there IS a method to my madness)

Macchiato is my morning drink of choice if I know it's a good coffee shop. These are FANTASTIC if well done, and AWFUL if done poorly. It's kind of my measuring stick of a coffee shop.

Extra Shot Mocha is my drink of choice most of the time. It's hard to screw it up. The cardinal sin is too much chocolate. I'm not looking for a hot chocolate with a shot of espresso, I'm looking for an espresso with a taste of chocolate. Call me picky.

If there's a drink that someplace claims to be their "specialty" then I'm likely to try it. I like the variety and I've had some good surprises over the years (as well as some bad ones....but that's the risk you take)

I've been accused recently of being picky, and I would have to agree. I'm no coffee snob, but I figure that if I'm paying that much for a coffee drink, then the barista should at least take the care to prepare it correctly. Sometimes shots come out less than perfect, but at least try...my 2¢.

We didn't get to go there. We're on this marathon of road trips (for us at least). 10 days, and these last few are all drives (5-7 hrs per day of driving). That leaves very little time for any coffee house crashing. Another time soon, hopefully.

Re: Fantastic Coffee Houses Of The World

I'm actually in Starke, Florida night now attending a worship retreat. Sat in on a series of sessions led by Marty Mikles today. He did a fantastic job! There's a little coffee house off of 100, Elliano's. It's a drive through type place, so the atmosphere sucked - but it was where we went every night to grab a cup of coffee and head back out to the conference.

Finally hit up Uncommon Grounds in Oklahoma City, OK. Fantastic. It really is probably the best coffee shop in Oklahoma (Brian or Dustin, if you disagree with me, let me know where to go). Had Brian's Extra Shot Mocha - it was quite amazing. A definate reccomendation for those who will be passing through OKC.

Is that the one in Bricktown next to City Walk? I actually haven't ever had a good experience at that place. Maybe I've had the wrong baristas, maybe you just have the magic touch, Ants. Hmmmm?

Re: Fantastic Coffee Houses Of The World

Yes, that's the one. I went in, about 5 minutes before closing time - told him what I liked (strong expresso with a mocha shot) and he made one up. We were the only people in there. My wife had a Turtle Latte, which was a caramel and something else. She loved it. Friend of mine had a white chocolate mocha. She too loved it. I'd give it one more shot - late at night. Let me know what you come up with.

What's your place of choice? Next up on my list is Will's.

Re: Fantastic Coffee Houses Of The World

Being a frequent customer at Sushi Neko over on Western, I decided the other night that there was no more excuses for not partaking in Will's Coffee Shop that is right next door, so I stepped in and asked what the specialty of the house was. Will's Signature Latte was what would be given to me, and I must say that I enjoyed it very much. From what I could gather, it's espresso & sweet condensed milk. It was quite tasty. The Lobby Bar as started doing movie nights, so it made for a great atmosphere as we chatted with friends.

Also, lets take a moment of silence to mourn the beginning of the end...
