People get married at different ages it can be from 17-20 or 20-25 or later than that. It is all up to the people are getting married when they are getting married and what age they want to be married at.

Can an old guy comment? Bethany is just a little younger than my youngest daughter, so I guess that qualifies me as ancient.  I wanted to check out Bethany, because I love good CCM, and hadn't heard of her before (Can you imagine?).  She's delightful, beautiful, talented, and by far most important, God-centered.  She seems to be well-rooted in Jesus, and really wants to lift Him up.

I join you in celebrating her recent engagement.  From what I see on Shane Barnard, he, too, is very God-centered, and sees his music as ministry more than performance or a business.  At the same time, I know how hard marriage can be in our world these days, especailly between two celebs -- even Christian celebs.  I'm sure I don't have to give y'all the marriage failure rates -- you know them, and you know how many of your firends haven't made it.  Bethany and Shane will face many challenges -- from the world, the flesh and, most of all, from the devil.  How he loves to attack Christian marriages, especailly the "high profile" ones!

Bethany is young to get married.  But she appears to be very mature.  Shane, on the other hand, is nearly 33.  That age difference can be a good thing, or it can bring even more stress.  I have NOT DOUBT that they can make this work, if they put God above EVERYTHING, especailly their careers.  BUT, they will also need LOTS of PRAYER.

So -- here's the deal: You guys who are so excited about Bethany and Shane -- are you gonna let that excitement carry you alongside them for, say, the next 7 to 10 years, when their marriage will be the most vulnerable to attack?  Are you willing to pray for them?  Are you gutsy enough to watch them, and, if you see that they are struggling, tell them that they need to take time off from ministry and work on their marriage?  Real friends do that, and I hope you are more than just fans (short for fanatics), but are the kind of friends who will really support this couple in their life together.

I totally disagree. It is NOT up to the people who are getting married. who they're getting married to and how old they are, It's God's choice, Not ours.

Wow, this was a shocker I just learned today... considering I'm a fan that's a lot of lag time.

 

While I must say it's always a sad day when such a fine woman of God is taken off the market (j/k), I'm really impressed with her attitude towards marriage. It's really encouraging to read that blog and see her heart for God. This is just another way this young lady has impressed me with her faith. I had the opportunity to meet her at Spirit West Coast in 2006 (after hearing her perform for the first time after trying to catch one of her songs on the radio for two years) and was impressed with the way she handled all the fans. She even paused to say thanks after talking to me (I gushed after planning to just say thanks and get a picture and was extremly embarrassed) after I had turned away after taking a picture with her... needless to say just taking that moment really blessed me considering she could've just kept on with the line of fans.

 

I'll keep the new couple in my prayers.
