Nichole co-wrote a song on Clay Aiken's new CD

Nichole has co-written "Ashes" with Mark Hammond which American Idol alumnus Clay Aiken recorded on his recently released CD, "On My Way Home."

That is cool. I am not a fan of Clay Aiken but it is great to see that Nichole Nordeman and Mark Hammond came together to co-write a song for Clay Aiken.

I'm not a fan of Clay's either, I passed the news on so that people can find out what Nichole's been up to.  Due to the popularity of Clay, Nichole and Mark will end up receiving quite a bit of royalty money.

Ashes is a great song, but I'd prefer if Nichole were to record it herself.

Is her website in face only?  Why don't they post this stuff on her website! UGH!

Here is clay singing it on youtube

    "Ashes" by Clay Aiken (lyrics)

    Ashes
written by Nichole Nordeman and Mark Hammond

    Someone told me
    What doesn't kill you only
Makes you stronger, sets you free
From all that held you down

With all my heart, I believed
    The ember burning
Was a dream deep in me
When everything went up in flames
    I still walked away

    Chorus
Turn around and see what love's done for me
You would not believe the way I used to be, so cold
Maybe love requires, walking through the fire
To set me free, so I could rise up from the ashes

    I was broken
A million pieces left to hold
    I was frozen
My heart left out in the cold

    Looking back I can see
    How the voice of reason
    Kept reminding me
I was never good enough somehow
    Try and remind me now

    Chorus

    Bridge
    Send it up in flames
    Let it light the sky
Now that I know pain...I'm more alive. I'm more alive

    Chorus

It looks like good lyrics to that song. I just think Nichole Nordeman would be a better singer than Clay Aiken to sing this song called Ashes.

Nichole would be the best singer for anything she writes, although she has once stated that she is semi-retired and no longer performing for now and focusing on songwriting.  I'd still like her to get recording again.  I want a new CD from her.

She is semi-retired? I guess that just means writing songs for other artists like Clay Aiken but I would love her to get back to recording a new album as I would love to hear new music from her

I agree that she should sing her own songs ( my own selfishness here).  Although, the trio she did with Selah (glory) was quite good!

I'm not a fan of the claymister but the lyrics are fantastic, I just don't think he has the stature or maturity to pull off the song, JMO.
