Fantastic Coffee Houses Of The World

Seeing that the Charlie Hall Band tend to be coffee drinkers at a level that is probably unhealthy, I figured this thread would only be appropriate. Feel free to share your favorite coffee hotspots around the country.

    To start off with:

    Tahlequah, OK:
Not only is it the capitol of the Cherokee Nation & the burial grounds of the horse that played Mr. Ed - it is also home to a great little spot called the Iguana Cafe. Not only does this place serve fantastic sandwiches, but its vast variety of latte's is something to keep you coming back. It's located right across the street from a lovely pizza place called Sam & Ella's Chicken Place. What a lovely play on words - three words that form together the most common illness you can get from eating chicken. Sam & Ella's pizza - and Iguana Cafe coffee makes for a great evening in the big city of Tahlequah.

At the top of my list, with a bullet...Broadway Coffee in Kansas City. Delightful place with freakin' fantastic coffee...and sitting right next door to the Empire itself....Starbuck's...and doing quite well! Everytime I've been in there, I've noticed that Broadway ALWAYS has at least twice as many customers as big green.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a Starbuck's hater, and I've spent many dollars at the green sign...but I'm a much bigger fan of anything local. More to come....

    Walt Disney World, FL:

Located at Disney's Polynesian Resort, Kona Island is a great little coffee shop that serves an excellent Caffe Mocha. If you've never been inside of the hotel, the atmosphere is as close to Hawaii as you can get here in the states. They also serve very nice desserts and coffee-related pastries that I can't even begin to describe. On the north side of the building, on the upper level, they usually have a man who sings and plays Hawaian traditionals who is very good at what he does.

Extra romantic tip for those who are married: Grab your coffee around 9:40pm and head down to the hammocks that face the castle. Won't your wife be surprised when music is suddenly pumped into the beach area, and the nightly fireworks show "Wishes" starts up over Cinderella's castle! Curl up together, and enjoy the 20 minute fireworks display. Do this, and I promise it won't be the only fireworks of the evening.Wink

Brain...I heard through some friends of mine that you guys are going to be hearding up to Crystal Lake, IL to play at Willow Creek McHenry campus. Well, if that is the case, you must visit Counsious Cup Coffee (it's just down the road from the church about 1/4 mile).

They are family owned, serve all fair trade coffee, they roast all of their coffee on sight, and they're some really good people. It is a really wonderful coffee house (even for the suburbs) and you should check it out if you need a good cup of coffee while in town. www.consciouscup.com.

p.s. in case you were speculating, I do not work for Consious Cup, I just really like it.

Oklahoma City, OK (as if you don't know all of them) -

I recently took my first trip out to the Red Cup in OKC, and I quite enjoyed it. At the time, I was craving a really strong coffee drink, so I went with the Americano - and it's one of the strongest drinks I've ever had. To kind of give you a feel for how strong it was, there were coffee grinds at the bottom of my cup. As I was reading over the menu, one sandwich stood out to me as odd, thus I had to order one. Wheat bread, jack cheese, apples and onions, pressed in a waffle iron. It is definately an aquired taste, but I did enjoy it. It reminded me of a cheese fondue at the Melting Pot.

Man, I'm craving coffee now - anyone else want to join me?

Re: Fantastic Coffee Houses Of The World

Has anyone been to Uncommon Grounds behind Spaghetti Warehouse here in Oklahoma City? We usually park in the lot across from it when we go to Bricktown, but every time we come back and go to stop in, it's always closed for the evening. Is it worth making a special trip down & paying to park for?
