Burnin' on Wide-Eyed -- What does this song mean?

This is my favorite song of Nichole Nordeman's, but I am a little embarassed because I don't know what it means!  I get some ideas when I listen to it, but sometimes I am just confused!  I would really love to hear what some other people think.  Thanks!

I think it is means to be burnin for God but I am only guessing since I haven't heard that song before

I am only thinking the song is about Burnin for God since the song title is called Burnin so it goes well with the song title.

I saw Nichole give an introduction to this song before she played it a show in Tennessee in January 2001. She said the song is about obedience.

Wow that is cool I guess the song is about obedience. I thought it was burnin for God I guess I was wrong.

I always thought it was about a new Christian praying for trials - not realizing that's a prayer that God likes to honor.  and then being in the midst of a trial with God along side you.

"knock with caution at the door - they said - beware of what you're praying for..so i stand with my whole desire in the middle of this forrest fire till i've nothing left to show - and new love begins to grow"

it sounds like it's based on the scripture - James 1: 2-4 -

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

That was all real good. Does what you had to say have to do with her song?

    Great post!

I just read the lyrics of the entire song, and it appears to me that Nichole may have had an image of a Christian who wants to do God's will. But God gave a tremendous challenge, and that Christian does not know if he/she is up to the task. Nichole parallels this situation with God choosing Moses to lead His people. Moses reluctantly obeys, and she wonders if Moses felt as fearful as the Christian depicted in this song.
