My family went to a SCC Concert (outdoor concert) recently and all I can say is that is was AMAZING!! He has such a godly spirit. This was his 2nd show back from his time off for grieving and it was obvious that it was difficult for him, to say the least. Both Caleb and Will Franklin were there as well. Steven said that at first there was no way he felt he would ever feel like touring again. But then God spoke to him and said that if all the things that he has written and sung about for all these years was really true, then he would eventually be back on the road, proclaiming the hope in Christ!
He talked of the struggles of Mary Beth's and asked us to continue praying for her specifically. Then he sang 'I Will Be Here'. What a tear jerker!! He did sing 'Cinderella' too! He had his back turned to the audience for a quick moment and in that moment, at the suggestion of our local Christian radio station, we all were holding up flashlights and cellphones when SCC turned back around. You could hear it in his voice as he choked for a second. It was beautiful to look back at the crowd, as we had 3rd row seats. At the end of the song he told us that it wasn't fair what we just did to him! LOL
Having the concert outside, SCC reminded us often of the wondrous creation of God and the greatness of God as we looked at the stars and moon. It was supposed to storm on our concert but just an hour before, I actually watched on the radar online and saw God separate the storm heading our way and split to go both north and south of us!
If you EVER get the chance to see SCC in concert (this was our first), GO! He is so real....it was like sitting across the kitchen table from him, as if he were speaking right to me rather than an audience of hundreds! He has such a true spirit and heart for God, even after the tragedy his family hasw been through. He had us sing along with him, at the beginning and end of the concert, 'Blessed Be The Name' as the line, 'He gives and takes away, my heart will choose to say, Lord, blessed be Your name' was one of the first things that came to his mind after precious Maria's death.
